- The Chatla Wetland (Chatla) (Bengali: চাতলা হাওর) is a seasonal wetland located in Cachar district, Assam, India. The speciality of Chatla is that during winter season is becomes fully farmland where Rice cultivation is done and after winter from March onward this piece land gets filled up with water and become a lake. Moreover, this (Chatla haor) is the main indigenous tea garden labor during British rule. Especially the states of India whose people came from Kolkata, Bihar, Orissa, from about 1850 to 1860. In particular, the two Bengali dialects were dominated by the Bengali Bengali Rari and Jharkhandi who were prominent among them. (1) The Rari Bangla dialect is the community of the community such as Kayastha, Chakrabarty. Besides, (2) Jharkhandi Bangla dialect is spoken by people from many communities - Bauri, Roy, Akura, Baghdi, Dutta, Kumar, Kol. Chronologically, from 1961 to 1971, people of different states of Bangladesh began to come to the people of Chaatla Haur and they continued to dominate. The depth of this lake is very less so when there is too much rain then the lake overflows and the excess water channels through the Ghagra river to the Barak river and eventually flows into Bangladesh. Chatla is famous for its fishery and it is one of the producers of fish for all the districts in southern Assam. Chatla produces all types of fish and the specialty of Chatla is its Bhujia fish, Tangra fish. Chatla Wetland is located in the District Cachar of the state Assam. The residents of Chatla are mainly of Bengali, Chatla haor’ is a seasonal wetland where people are engaged in agriculture during the dry period (October–March) while the wetland act as a fishery during the wet period (April- September). Chatla is located near the second largest town of Assam, Silchar. Sylheti is the primary language spoken by the Bengali population. Rice is the staple food and fish, tea is also available. (en)
