- The Chapman Lake is a vast expanse of freshwater in the central part of the Gouin Reservoir, in the territory of the town of La Tuque, in , in the administrative region of Mauricie, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. This bay extends into the cantons of Chapman (northern part), Huguenin (southern part) and Nevers (eastern part). Followingthe completion of the Gouin Dam in 1948, the current form of Chapman Lake was shaped by the raising of the Gouin Reservoir. The water level varies significantly, being dependent on the Gouin Dam. Recreotourism activities are the main economic activity of the sector. Forestry comes second. A road branch connecting to the South at serves the southern portion of Chapman Lake and the southwestern portion of "Lac des Cinq Milles". The connects the Gouin Dam to the village ofParent, Quebec, also serves the river valleys Jean-Pierre and Leblanc; this road also serves the peninsula which stretches north in the Gouin Reservoir on 30.1 kilometres (18.7 mi). Some secondary forest roads are in use nearby for forestry and recreational tourism activities. The surface of Chapman Lake is usually frozen from mid-November to the end of April, but safe ice circulation is generally from early December to the end of March. (en)

Cette baie s’étend dans les cantons de Chapman (partie Nord), de Huguenin (partie Sud) et de Nevers (partie Est). À la suite de l’érection complétée en 1948 du barrage Gouin, la forme actuelle du « Lac Chapman » a été façonnée par le rehaussement des eaux du réservoir Gouin. Le niveau de l’eau varie significativement, étant tributaire du barrage Gouin. Les activités récréotouristiques constituent la principale activité économique du secteur. La foresterie arrive en second. Une branche routière se reliant vers le Sud à la dessert la partie Sud du lac Chapman et la partie Sud-Ouest du « Lac des Cinq Milles ». La relie le barrage Gouin au village de Parent (Québec), dessert aussi les vallées des rivières Jean-Pierre et Leblanc ; cette route dessert aussi la péninsule qui s’étire vers le Nord dans le réservoir Gouin sur 30,1 km. Quelques routes forestières secondaires sont en usage à proximité pour la foresterie et les activités récréotouristiques. La surface du Lac Chapman est habituellement gelée de la mi-novembre à la fin avril, toutefois la circulation sécuritaire sur la glace se fait généralement du début décembre à la fin de mars. (fr)
