- Das Champ-de-Mars (dt. „Marsfeld“) ist eine große Grünfläche in Montreal. Sie befindet sich im zentralen Arrondissement Ville-Marie am Rande der Altstadt (Vieux-Montréal), zwischen dem , dem Hôtel de Ville und der Rue Saint-Antoine. Auf diesem ehemaligen Exerzierplatz finden sich Überreste der Montrealer Stadtmauern. Einen Exerzierplatz gab es seit den 1740er Jahren, auf einem den Jesuiten gehörenden Grundstück. Im Jahr 1812, als die Stadtmauern abgerissen wurden, schlugen die Stadtbehörden vor, hinter den öffentlichen Gebäuden an der Rue Notre-Dame eine Terrasse zu errichten und somit den bestehenden Exerzierplatz zu erweitern. Das Gelände diente ab 1899 als Marktplatz, ab den 1920er Jahren als Parkplatzfläche. Zwischen 1986 und 1991 wurde ein rund 250 Meter langes Teilstück der Stadtmauern freigelegt und restauriert, im Hinblick auf der 350-Jahr-Feier der Stadt gestaltete man die Grünfläche zu einer Parkanlage um. Nach dem Champ-de-Mars ist die gleichnamige U-Bahn-Station benannt. (de)

Formerly a military parade ground, the park had previously been traversed by Montreal's fortifications, which were demolished at the beginning of the 19th century. The adjacent Montreal City Hall (1878) and the old courthouse (1856) were later built inside the line of the fortifications. Champ de Mars served as a municipal parking lot starting in the 1960s until being restored as a park in 1992. At that time, the foundations of Montreal's city walls were discovered and restored. The site's name commemorates its former military purpose; Mars was the Roman god of war and campus Martius was a Latin term for a military exercise ground. The walls now standing on site are the foundations of the original walls used to protect the city. The area is bordered by the Montreal City Hall, the old and new courthouses and the Champ-de-Mars Metro station. (en)

Miejsce to było pierwotnie polem ćwiczebnym wojsk francuskich, przebiegały tutaj mury miejskie, które zostały zburzene przez władze brytyjskie w 1812 roku. Od 1899 roku znajdował się tutaj plac targowy, natomiast w latach 1920 zbudowano parking. Dopiero w latach 80. postanowiono utworzyć w tym miejscu park miejski. W wyniku prac archeologicznych w latach 1986-1991 odkopano i odrestaurowano 250-metrowy odcinek starych murów miejskich, co było jednym z projektów z okazji zbliżającej się 350. rocznicy założenia Montrealu. Nazwa tego miejsca odnosi się do jego wojskowej przeszłości. Mars był rzymskim bogiem wojny, stąd określenie campus Martius (pole marsowe) było łacińskim określeniem wojskowego pola do ćwiczeń.. W pobliżu parku znajduje się montrealski Ratusz Miejski (Hôtel de ville), Palais de justice oraz stacja metra Champ-de-Mars. (pl)
