- Die Kapsulotomie (auch Nd:YAG-Laser-Kapsulotomie) ist eine Laser-Behandlungsmethode in der Augenheilkunde. Sie wird nach Katarakt-Operationen angewendet, falls an der Rückfläche einer implantierten Intraokularlinse (Kunstlinse) ein sogenannter Nachstar aufgetreten ist. Dieser entsteht durch Trübung der im Auge verbliebenen Linsenkapsel oder durch Ablagerung von Zellen (Regenerate) oder fibrotischem Material und führt i. d. R. zu einer Reduzierung der Sehschärfe. In den allermeisten Fällen wird eine Kapsulotomie mit Hilfe eines Nd:YAG-Lasers durchgeführt, wobei der hintere Teil der Linsenkapsel mittels mehrerer Laser-Impulse mit dem Ziel eröffnet wird, eine ausreichende Sehlücke für eine bessere visuelle Funktion zu schaffen. - Capsulotomy (BrE /kæpsjuː'lɒtəmi/, AmE /kæpsuː'lɑːtəmi/) is a type of eye surgery in which an incision is made into the capsule of the crystalline lens of the eye. In modern cataract operations, the lens capsule is usually not removed. The most common forms of cataract surgery remove nearly all of the crystalline lens but do not remove the crystalline lens capsule (the outer "bag" layer of the crystalline lens). The crystalline lens capsule is retained and used to contain and position the intraocular lens implant (IOL). Before the advent of laser surgery, a tiny knife called a cystotome was used to cut a hole in the center of the lens capsule, thus providing a clear path for light to reach the retina. This procedure thus reduces the opacity of the lens of the eye. (en)
