- تأسست مبادرة بورلوج العالمية لمكافحة الصدأ (بالإنجليزية: Borlaug Global Rust Initiative) استجابةً لتوصيات لجنة من الخبراء الدوليين الذين اجتمعوا للنظر في الاستجابة للتهديد الذي يمثله الإمداد الغذائي العالمي الذي تشكله سلالة صدأ الساق Ug99. تم تغيير اسم مبادرة بورلوج العالميّة للصدأ إلى مبادرة بورلوج جلوبال روست (بالإنجليزية: Borlaug Global Rust) تكريما لرائد الثورة الخضراء والحائز على جائزة نوبل للسلام الدكتور نورمان بورلوج الذي عمل على تأسيس وقيادة مبادرة الصدأ العالمية. هدف مبادرة بورلوج العالميّة للصدأ الشامل هو الحد بشكل منهجي من تعرض العالم لصدأ الساق والدعوة لتسهيل وتطوير نظام دولي مستدام لاحتواء خطر صدأ القمح ومواصلة التحسينات في الإنتاجية المطلوبة لتحمل المستقبل التهديدات العالمية للقمح. - The Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI - originally named the Global Rust Initiative) was founded in response to recommendations of a committee of international experts who met to consider a response to the threat the global food supply posed by the Ug99 strain of wheat rust. The BGRI was renamed the Borlaug Global Rust initiative in honor of Green Revolution pioneer and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Dr. Norman Borlaug who worked to establish and lead the Global Rust Initiative. The BGRI has the overarching objective of systematically reducing the world’s vulnerability to stem, yellow, and leaf rusts of wheat and advocating/facilitating the evolution of a sustainable international system to contain the threat of wheat rusts and continue the enhancements in productivity required to withstand future global threats to wheat. - L’Initiative mondiale Borlaug contre la rouille (BGRI, Borlaug Global Rust Initiative) , anciennement Global Rust Initiative (Initiative mondiale contre la rouille), a été fondée en réponse aux recommandations d'un comité d'experts internationaux qui s'est réuni pour envisager une réponse à la menace que représente pour l'approvisionnement alimentaire mondial la souche Ug99 de la rouille noire du blé. La BGRI a été renommée « Initiative mondiale Borlaug contre la rouille » en l'honneur de Norman Borlaug, pionnier de la Révolution verte et lauréat du Prix Nobel de la paix, qui a été la cheville ouvrière de l'Initiative mondiale contre la rouille. Le BGRI a pour objectif primordial de réduire méthodiquement la vulnérabilité mondiale aux rouilles du blé (rouille noire, rouille jaune et rouille brune) et de préconiser et faciliter l'évolution d'un système international durable pour contenir la menace des rouilles du blé et poursuivre les améliorations nécessaires de la productivité pour résister aux futures menaces mondiales sur le blé.
