- Das Bistum Cariati (lat. Dioecesis Cariatensis) war eine Diözese der römisch-katholischen Kirche mit Sitz in der Stadt Cariati in der Provinz Cosenza in der Region Kalabrien (Italien). 1437 wurde das Bistum formal durch Abspaltung vom Erzbistum Rossano begründet und zugleich mit dem Bistum Cerenzia in Personalunion verbunden. 1818 wurden die Bistümer Cerenzia, Strongoli und Umbriatico in das Bistum Cariati inkorporiert. 1979 wurde das Bistum Cariati aufgehoben und das Bistumsgebiet aufgeteilt. Die Gebiete der früheren Bistümer Cerenzia, Strongoli und Umbriatico wurden an das Bistum Crotone angeschlossen, während das ursprüngliche Bistumsgebiet von Cariati in das Erzbistum Rossano inkorporiert wurde, das nun Erzbistum Rossano und Cariati, später Erzbistum Rossano-Cariati genannt wurde. - The Italian Catholic diocese of Cariati, in Calabria, existed until 1979. In that year it was united into the archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati. The diocese was a suffragan of the archdiocese of Santa Severina, and then of the archdiocese of Reggio Calabria. In 2001, it became a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Cosenza-Bisignano. (en)
