- تهدف مبادرة (الإبداع الحيوي للمجتمع المفتوح) الدولية (بالإنجليزية: Biological Innovation for Open Society) أو ما يُطلق عليها (بيوس BiOS)، وهي مبادرة حيوية (بيولوجية) مفتوحة المصدر، إلى إثراء الإبداع (بالإنجليزية: freedom to operate) في مجال العلوم الحيوية (البيولوجية). حيث أطلقت ، وهي منظمة غير ربحية دولية اُنْشِأت أساساً لجعل الإبداع عملية ديمقراطية من حق الجميع، في 10 فبراير 2005 تلك المبادرة، والتي كانت نواياها تتمثل في الشروع في وضع معاييرٍ وممارساتٍ جديدةٍ لخلق أدوات تساعد على الإبداع البيولوجي، وذلك وفقاً لمواثيقٍ مُلزِمَةٍ لحماية وحفظ فوائدها (تلك الأدوات)، في حين يتم السماح لمختلف نماذج الأعمال بتطبيق تلك الأدوات. وكما وصف ، المدير التنفيذي لكامبيا، فإن مبادرة بيوس (الإبداع الحيوي للمجتمع المفتوح) بدأت العمل مع مجموعة شركاتٍ صغيرةٍ، مكاتبٍ الجامعات لنقل التكنولوجيا (بالإنجليزية: technology transfer)، المحامين، والمؤسسات متعددة الجنسيات لخلق قاعدة عملٍ لمشاركة والمنتجة. كما طورت الأحزاب المختلفة (بالإنجليزية: Material Transfer Agreement) التابع للمبادرة وكذلك رخصة مبادرة بيوس كأدواتٍ شرعيةٍ لتسهيل هذا الأهداف. - BiOS (Biological Open Source/Biological Innovation for Open Society) is an international initiative to foster innovation and freedom to operate in the biological sciences. BiOS was officially launched on 10 February 2005 by Cambia, an independent, international non-profit organization dedicated to democratizing innovation. Its intention is to initiate new norms and practices for creating tools for biological innovation, using binding covenants to protect and preserve their usefulness, while allowing diverse business models for the application of these tools. As described by Richard Anthony Jefferson, CEO of Cambia, the Deputy CEO of Cambia, Dr Marie Connett worked extensively with small companies, university offices of technology transfer, attorneys, and multinational corporations to create a platform to share productive and sustainable technology. The parties developed the BiOS Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) and the BiOS license as legal instruments to facilitate these goals. (en)
