- قبيلة دوس: قبيلة عربية شهيرة، من الأزد. وكانت مواطن دوس مأرب، وأقدم نقش مسندي يذكرهم يعود للقرن الثاني الميلادي في مأرب زمن الملك وهب إل يحز الثاني تبع سبأ. وقد انتقلت دوس مع غيرها من القبائل الأزدية بعد فيضان سد مأرب في القرن الثاني الميلادي، واستوطنت السراة وأغوارها، وفي ذلك قال ابن الكلبي:«كانت منازلهم خثعم بجبال السراة، وما والاها جبل يقال له: شن، وجبل يقال له: بارق، وجبال معهما. حتى مرت بهم الأزد في مسيرها من أرض سبأ، وتفرقها في البلاد، فقاتلوهم فأنزلوهم من جبالهم، وأجلوهم، عن منازلهم، ونزلتها أزد شنوءة، غامد، وبارق، ودوس، وتلك القبائل من الأزد، فظهر الاسلام، وهم أهلها، وسكانها». ويزعم الإخباريون أن مالك بن فهم من دوس، أرتحل إلى العراق فملكها، قال ابن قتيبة: «مالك بن فهم بن غنم بن دوس من الأزد، وكان قد خرج من اليمن مع عمرو بن عامر مزيقياء، حين أحسوا بسيل العرم. فلما صارت الأزد إلى مكة، وغلبوا جرهم على ولاية البيت، أقاموا زمانا ثم خرجوا، إلا خزاعة، فإنّها أقامت على ولاية البيت، فصار مالك بن فهم إلى العراق، فأقام ملكا على العراق عشرين سنة، ثم هلك، وملك ابنه جذيمة بن مالك الأبرش». - The Banu Daws (Arabic: بنو دوس) was one of the clan of Arabia during Muhammad's era. Located south of Mecca, it is a branch of the Zahran tribe, among its leaders Tufayl ibn Amr, one of Muhammad's companions. There are Islamic prophecies with regards to 'End-Times' that have quoted the tribe; like the following by Abu Hurairah: Abu Hurairah said, I heard the Prophet say, The Hour will not come until the buttocks of the women of Daws move (quiver) while going around Dhu l-Khalasah. Dhu l-Khalasah was an idol worshiped by the tribe of Daws during the Jahiliyyah. (Hadith from Bukhari.) (en)
- Le clan des Banu Daws était l'une des tribus d'Arabie durant l'époque de Mahomet. Localisée au sud de La Mecque, région d'Al Bahah, la tribu Zahran est reliée aux Banu Daws. Parmi ses chefs, At-Tufayl ibn Amr ad-Dawsi était un compagnon de Mahomet. Il fut par ailleurs le premier de sa tribu à se convertir à l'Islam. Abou Hourayra, de la tribu des Banu Daws, la cite dans un hadith : ""L'Heure suprême ne se dressera que lorsque les postérieurs des femmes de Daws bougeront autour de Zoul-khalsa, une idole que Daws adoraient à Tabala à l'époque de l'Ignorance" (Sahih al-Bukhari)" Les Banu Daws ont également participé au siège de Ta'if (630) sous le commandement de At-Tufayl ibn Amr ad-Dawsi. Ils étaient reconnus pour leur savoir dans l'utilisation de catapultes. (fr)
