- Borhidi Attila (born 28 June 1932), is a Széchenyi Prize winning Hungarian botanist, ecologist, professor, politician and full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He is most noted for his extensive work on plant taxonomy. 1989 to 1992, he was at the Janus Pannonius University Teacher Training Faculty, and from 1992 to 1994 the newly formed Faculty of Science. Between 1997 and 2002 he was Institute director of the Institute of Ecology and Botany.He is a member of the Batthyány Society of Professors. The standard author abbreviation Borhidi is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name. (en)

Se desempeña en el "Instituto de Ecología y Botánica", en Budapest. A este académico y profesor emérito de la Universidad de Pécs se le reconoce, su insuperable contribución al estudio de la flora, la fitogeografía y la vegetación de Cuba; así como, sus históricos vínculos con la comunidad botánica cubana. Fue reconocido con el Premio Julián Acuña, máxima distinción que otorga anualmente la Sociedad Cubana de Botánica (SOCUBOT), por las importantes investigadores que han contribuido de forma decisiva al desarrollo de las ciencias vegetales en la isla, como parte de las festividades por el Día del Botánico Cubano y la medalla conmemorativa por el aniversario 150 de la Academia de Ciencias de Cuba (ACC), de manos de Ismael Clark Arxer, presidente de la institución.
