- The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Slovene: Stolna cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja) also called Koper Cathedral is the Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Koper, in the city of Koper, Slovenia. The church was built in the second half of the twelfth century in Romanesque style, with three naves, each ending with an apse. Until 1392 the church underwent changes and additions, which also led to a change of style: the western facade is clearly Gothic. After an earthquake in 1460, the facade was redesigned in 1488, with the addition of Renaissance elements. The tower, which offers views of the city and the bay, is four stories, follows the style of an Italian bell tower and houses one of the oldest bells in Slovenia, dating back to 1333. Early 18th century, Koper was under Venetian influence, and was again an architectural transformation in the Baroque style. Under the direction of Giorgio Massari, additional landscaping elements were added to the church, including valuable paintings of Venetian painters Pietro Liberi, Celesti Andrea, Antonio Zanchi and Vittore Carpaccio. The most important painting is the Holy Conversation of Vittore Carpaccio, dating from 1516. (en)

Die Kirche wurde in der zweiten Hälfte des 12. Jahrhunderts erbaut und zeigt sich in romanischem Stil. Jedes der drei Kirchenschiffe endet mit einer Apsis. Bereits kurz darauf erfolgende Erweiterungen zogen sich bis 1392 hin, was auch zu einem Stilwechsel führte: die Westfassade zeigt sich deutlich gotisch. In Folge eines Erdbebens im Jahr 1460 wurde die Fassade bis 1488 umgestaltet. Besonders am Portal finden sich Renaissance-Elemente. Der viergeschossige Kirchturm orientiert sich am italienischen Campanile und beherbergt eine der ältesten slowenischen Glocken aus dem Jahre 1333. Vom Turm bietet sich ein beeindruckender Ausblick über die Stadt und die gesamte Triester Bucht. Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts stand Koper unter venezianischem Einfluss, was zu einer Umgestaltung im Stil des Barock führte. Für die Umgestaltung zeichnete Giorgio Massari verantwortlich. Zusätzliche Ausstattungsgegenstände wurden in die Kirche gebracht, darunter auch wertvolle Gemälde der venezianischen Maler Pietro Liberi, Andrea Celesti, Beltrame, Antonio Zanchi und Gianelli sowie von Bendetto und Vittore Carpaccio. Das bedeutendste Gemälde, die „Sacra Conversazione“ von Vittore Carpaccio, stammt aus dem Jahre 1516. Der Sarkophag des heiligen Nazarius stammt aus dem 14. Jahrhundert und wurde vermutlich von geschaffen. (de)
- La Catedral de la Asunción de la Virgen María o simplemente Catedral de Koper (en esloveno: Stolna cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja) Es la catedral católica de la diócesis de Koper, en la ciudad de Koper, Eslovenia. La iglesia fue construida en la segunda mitad del siglo XII en estilo románico, de tres naves, cada una terminando con un ábside. Hasta 1392 la iglesia sufrió cambios y ampliaciones, que también dieron lugar a un cambio de estilo: la fachada occidental es claramente gótica. Después de un terremoto en 1460, la fachada fue re-diseñada en 1488, con la adición de elementos renacentistas. La torre, que ofrece una vista espectacular de la ciudad y toda la bahía, es de cuatro pisos, sigue el estilo de una torre de campanario italiana y alberga una de las campanas más antiguas de Eslovenia, que se remonta a 1333.
