- Ο Αρκάς είναι Έλληνας σκιτσογράφος και συγγραφέας. Ξεκίνησε στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του '80 δημοσιεύοντας τη σειρά Ο Κόκκορας στο περιοδικό Βαβέλ και στη συνέχεια στο Παρά Πέντε και στο Μικρό Παρά Πέντε. Το έργο του αποτελείται κυρίως από σειρές με συγκεκριμένο θέμα - πρωταγωνιστές που δημοσιεύονται σε περιοδικά και εφημερίδες και συγκεντρώνονται στη συνέχεια σε άλμπουμ. Από τα έργα του ο Ισοβίτης έχει γίνει σειρά με μαριονέτες για την ελληνική τηλεόραση από τον Μάνθο Σαντοριναίο. Δουλειές του έχουν μεταφραστεί σε άλλες γλώσσες (αγγλικά, γαλλικά, γερμανικά, ιταλικά, ισπανικά, πορτογαλικά, πολωνικά, ρουμανικά, σέρβικα και βουλγάρικα), ενώ έχει γράψει και θεατρικά έργα. Το πραγματικό ονοματεπώνυμο του εν λόγω συγγραφέα είναι άγνωστο, καθώς ο ίδιος δεν το έχει αποκαλύψει, ενώ τα ονόματα Αντώνης Ευδαίμων και Γεράσιμος Σπανοδημήτρης που έχει χρησιμοποιήσει σε έργα του, θεωρούνται ψευδώνυμα. - Arkas (Greek: Αρκάς) is the pen name of a popular Greek comics artist that began working in early 1981. His comics have a unique style, often combining humor and deep philosophical questions. The structure of the stories are generally very simple with each volume being made up of individual strips which follow some general plot guidelines. Most of the times we will only see two main characters: One is the rational, skeptical and questioning figure, while the other is a rude, vulgar or just empty-headed character who usually provides the punchlines. The stories take place in a variety of different locations/situations with protagonists that are usually animals but humans and occasionally video-game characters are also featured. Arkas seldom appears at conventions and generally avoids publicity and appearances on television shows or interviews, as he has been quoted to believe that the artist should be known through his work, not through personal promotion. A mystery has been created around his identity and his real name still remains unknown, although the Greek newspaper Kathimerini has also mentioned it as Antonis Evdemon. According to fan rumors, he is a psychiatrist, possibly a university professor. Arkas in Greek means Arcadian or someone from the province of Arcadia. However, the CamelCase style in which his name is written suggests that Arkas may be only his initials. Arkas has been translated into other languages and has become known outside Greece. Translations of his books can be found in English, French, German, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Bulgarian, Polish and Serbian. (en)

Sus tiras cómicas aparecieron por primera vez en los kioscos a principios de los años 80, y desde entonces hasta la actualidad sus datos personales son un misterio y su apariencia es desconocida incluso para sus propios editores. Ha preferido mantener el anonimato bajo la firme creencia de que un artista debe ser conocido por su obra no por la publicidad que puedan proporcionar periódicos o programas de televisión. Muchos buscan en su nombre un paralelismo con el héroe mitológico Arcas y defienden la hipótesis de su probable procedencia de la provincia griega de Arcadia ―‘arcás’ en griego significa arcadio―. Pese a esta incuestionable coincidencia, el estilo del propio humorista nos hace sospechar que tal vez se trate de una pista falsa y que Arcás sea más bien un acrónimo del nombre real del autor. Desde su primera aparición pública con la serie O Κόκκορας [El Gallo] Arcás se convirtió en todo un fenómeno. Sorprendió por un estilo absolutamente personal y una madurez que hacía pensar más en un consagrado autor que en un joven artista. Su particular humor siempre impregnado de un tono sarcástico (casi negro), inconfundible, está presente en casi todas sus historietas. Sin embargo, lo que realmente explica su éxito es la universalidad y atemporalidad de los temas que trata, de tal forma que a pesar del paso de los años, los diversos personajes que ha ido creando nos pueden hacer reír del mismo modo que el primer día. - Arkas (AFI: [aɾˈkas]) (in greco: Αρκάς; 1958) è lo pseudonimo di un fumettista greco. Molto schivo e riservato, di lui non si conosce nulla, tanto il suo vero nome quanto la sua provenienza, sebbene dicerie tra i fan lo vorrebbero uno psichiatra od un docente universitario, mentre il quotidiano greco Kathimerini, in un suo articolo su di lui, sostenne che si chiamasse Antonis Evdemon (ipotesi, naturalmente, mai corroborata); il suo nome d'arte, traducibile dal greco come "arcadico", ha fatto supporre che possa essere originario di quella sottoregione del Peloponneso (anche se, tenendo conto del fatto che il fumettista in questione si firmi mediante una notazione a cammello, farebbe pensare tutt'al più che si trattino semplicemente delle sue iniziali), qualora altri, sulla scorta del corpo delle sue opere, propendano invece per una sua origine ateniese. Famosissimo in patria, non ha mai rilasciato interviste, né è apparso mai in occasione d'eventi pubblici (come convegni di fumetti ecc.), in più di venticinque anni di attività. Arkas è apprezzato anche in Inghilterra, Francia e Germania dove vengono tradotte e pubblicate alcune delle sue serie. Il suo stile è inconfondibile sia per il "nasone" che ne contraddistingue i personaggi, sia per il suo humor caustico e tagliente che fa da veicolo alla sua grande capacità di analisi, a volte spietata, della società e della psiche umana. In Italia, a partire dal 2005, le sue opere sono pubblicate dall'editore Lavieri che, dopo la serie dedicata agli "uccellini" (Chamilés ptísis, in italiano intitolata Voli radenti), e quella di "Montecristo" (O Isovitis), si prepara alla pubblicazione di altre produzioni dell'artista greco.
