- Arcàties (en llatí Arcathias, en grec antic Ἀρκαθίας) era un fill de Mitridates VI Eupator que juntament amb els generals Neoptòlem i Arquelau i deu mil cavallers va anar a l'Armènia Menor al començament de la guerra amb Roma l'any 88 aC. Va participar en la Batalla del riu Amneius o Amnias (avui Gökırmak) a Paflagònia on el rei de Bitínia, Nicomedes IV Filopàtor, en va sortir derrotat. Dos anys després, el 86 aC, al front d'un exèrcit, va envair Macedònia i va dominar el país, i llavors va marxar contra Sul·la però va morir pel camí a (potser Potidea), segons Apià. (ca)

- Arcathias (Ancient Greek: Ἀρκαθίας) was a Pontic prince of Persian and Greek Macedonian ancestry, and figure in the First Mithridatic War. Arcathias was a son of Mithridates VI of Pontus and his sister-wife Laodice. In 89 BC, Arcathias joined Neoptolemus and Archelaus, his father's generals, with 10,000 horses, which he brought from Armenia, at the commencement of the war with the Romans. Arcathias took an active part in the great battle fought near the river Amneius or Amnias in Paphlagonia (the modern Gök River), in which Nicomedes IV of Bithynia was defeated. Two years afterwards, in 87 BC, he invaded Macedonia with a separate army alongside a general named Taxilas. There they either annihilated the legions of Sentius or successfully ejected them from Macedonia. By 86 BC, he had completely conquered Macedonia. He then proceeded to march against Sulla, but died on the way, at Tidaeum (or Potidaea or Mount Tisaion). The commander of the army sent to Macedonia is called "Ariarathes" by Plutarch, but it's generally assumed that this is the same person. (en)

Fu attivo durante la prima guerra mitridatica contro Silla, a capo di un contingente bellico di circa 10 000 cavalieri dall'Armenia Minore, alleandosi ad Archelao e Neottolemo, generali al servizio del padre Mitridate VI, e a Dorilao e Cratero. Secondo Strabone prese parte attiva nella battaglia del fiume Amnia nella Paflagonia (odierno fiume in Turchia), in cui Nicomede IV di Bitinia venne sconfitto. Due anni dopo, nell'anno 87 a.C., invase la Macedonia con un altro esercito alleato al generale chiamato Tassila, annientando le legioni di Senzio o in ogni caso scacciandole con successo dalla Macedonia.Nell'86 a.C. Arcazia aveva completamente conquistato il paese e quindi iniziò la marcia contro i Romani di Silla, morendo però durante il viaggio, presso Tideo (o Potidea o Monte Tiseo). Appiano di Alessandria fa cenno ad una invasione della Macedonia da parte di Arcazia; una volta conquistatala per intero e postala sotto il dominio dei satrapi, procedette verso Silla, ma si ammalò e morì presso il monte Tiseo, in Tessaglia. Il comandante dell'esercito mandato in Macedonia viene chiamato "Ariarate" da Plutarco, il che fa supporre ad alcuni studiosi che Arcazia potrebbe essere in realtà Ariarate IX di Cappadocia. (it)
