- Ο Άνθιππος ήταν θρυλικός αρχαίος Έλληνας ποιητής και μουσικός. Δεν είναι βέβαιο αν πρόκειται για πραγματικό πρόσωπο ή όχι. Ο φιλόσοφος της ρωμαϊκής περιόδου Ιούλιος Πολυδεύκης αναφέρει στο Ονομαστικόν του ότι ο Άνθιππος εφηύρε την «Λύδιον αρμονίαν». Αλλά και ο Πλούταρχος στο Περί μουσικής γράφει: «Πίνδαρος δ' εν παιάσιν επί τοις Νιόβης γάμοις φησί Λύδιον αρμονίαν πρώτον υπ' Ανθίππου διδαχθήναι». (el)
- Anthippus (Ancient Greek: Ἄνθιππος) was a Greek comic poet, a play of whose is cited by Athenaeus. His existence is uncertain however, and we ought perhaps to read "Anaxippus" (Ἀναξίππῳ) here. The rhetorician Julius Pollux ascribes the creation of the Lydian mode to an Anthippus, though this attribution is considered more mythological than historical. (en)
