- Anholt (plattdeutsch Aanoldt) ist ein Stadtteil von Isselburg im nordrhein-westfälischen Kreis Borken. Von 1347 bis zu seiner Eingemeindung 1975 besaß Anholt das Stadtrecht. Das Gebiet Anholts war vom Mittelalter bis 1806 zugleich das Territorium einer Herrschaft im Heiligen Römischen Reich. Durch den Reichsdeputationshauptschluss des Jahres 1803 bildete es den territorialen Anknüpfungspunkt zur Entstehung des westfälischen Fürstentums Salm. Anholt liegt auf einer Höhe von 7 m über NN unmittelbar an der deutsch-niederländischen Grenze. Zum Ort gehören die Bauerschaften Dwarsefeld, Regniet, Hahnerfeld und Breels. In Anholt leben derzeit 4107 Menschen (Stand 31. Dezember 2012). Im Jahre 2019 feierte Anholt seinen 850. „Geburtstag“ (den 850. Jahrestag der Ersterwähnung im Jahre 1169). (de)
- Anholt is a town and former city in the municipality of Isselburg, Kreis Borken in the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia. It was the residence of the Lords of Anholt. It is the capital of the Principality of Salm-Salm, a former noble family still residing at Anholt Castle. Anholt borders on the Netherlands to the north and west, on the Rhineland to the south and is the outermost western town of the district of Münster, Westphalia.
