- أفوكسولانر (INN) يُعتبر مبيد حشرات وقاتل للقَراد الذي يصيب الكلاب. يَستخدم للوقاية والعلاج من البراغيث والقرّاد الذي يصيب الكلاب والجراء من عمر 8 أسابيع وأكثر، بوزن 4 باوندات (~1.8 كيلوغرام) من وزن الجسم أو أكثر. يَعطى العلاج مرة واحدة في الشهر. على عكس علاجات البراغيث الأخرى التي تستخدم بشكل موضعي على فرو الحيوان؛ أفوكسولانر يَؤخذ عن طريق الفم على شكل قرص بنكهة اللحم، حيث يقوم بتسميم البراغيث مجرد بدئها بالتغذية. يَستخدم العلاج وحده أو مع علاج «ميلبيمايسين أوكسيم». صنّفت مؤسسة الغذاء والدواء الأمريكية هذا العلاج على أنه من نوع (ايزوكسازولين) والذي يتضمن أعراض جانبية عصبية قد تصيب بعض الكلاب مثل: ارتعاش في العضلات، ترنَّح في الحركة، ونوبات صرع. - Afoxolaner (INN) is an insecticide and acaricide that belongs to the isoxazoline chemical compound group. It acts as an antagonist at ligand-gated chloride channels, in particular those gated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA-receptors). Isoxazolines, among the chloride channel modulators, bind to a distinct and unique target site within the insect GABA-gated chloride channels, thereby blocking pre-and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes. Prolonged afoxolaner-induced hyperexcitation results in uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and death of insects and acarines. (en)

- Afoxolaner (DCI) es un insecticida y acaricida utilizado en perros. Está indicado para el tratamiento y prevención de pulgas, y el tratamiento y control de garrapatas en perros y cachorros desde las 8 semanas de edad o más, para pesos de 1,8 kilogramos o más. Se aplica una vez al mes. A diferencia de la mayoría de otros tratamientos de pulga que son aplicados de forma tópica sobre la piel del animal, afoxolaner se administra de forma oral como pastillas con sabor a carne, empezando el envenenamiento de las pulgas tan pronto se empieza a alimentar el animal. Se utiliza por si solo o en un tratamiento combinado junto a milbemycin oxime. La FDA reporta que fármacos de esta clase (isoxazolines o isoxazoles) puede tener efectos neurológicos adversos en algunos perros, como temblores, ataxia, y convulsiones. (es)
