- The 2018 South American Six Nations, or 6 Naciones Sudamericano, was the 40th edition of the rugby union tournament between South American national teams. This year the tournament was renamed South American Six Nations, replacing the South American Rugby Championship, which was last played in 2017. For the first time, the tournament had six nations participating, including Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and Chile. Because of superior quality of their national teams, Uruguay and Argentina sent Uruguay A national rugby union team and Argentina XV national rugby union team, the nations' second national rugby team, for this tournament. Unlike the previous year, this tournament abolished a round-robin format and was divided in two groups: The West Conference, composed of Argentina XV, Chile, and Colombia; and the East Conference, made up of Brazil, Uruguay XV, and Paraguay. Each team played the teams in the other conference once. As the first South American Six Nations championship, this tournament marked a few milestones. Brazil was the South American champion for the first time, after defeating the Argentinian XV team for 36-33 in Buenos Aires. This was the first time ever a Brazilian side defeated an Argentinian side in international rugby union. Conquering the Championship was a milestone for Brazilian rugby, which have been improving ever since the 2000s and received more investments preceding the 2016 Summer Olympics. Also a first, reigning champions Uruguay decided to use a second team to play the Championship, failing to produce results as they finished fourth. Furthermore, this tournament was also the first time that Colombia entered a first level South American tournament. Like Brazil, rugby in Colombia is still a underdeveloped sport which have been going through a process of increasing investments and improving results in the sport. (en)

Zum ersten Mal nahmen sechs Mannschaften teil, weshalb das Turnier auch Seis Naciones genannt wurde. Teilnehmer waren die Nationalmannschaften von Brasilien, , und , während Argentinien und Uruguay jeweils mit ihrer B-Nationalmannschaft vertreten waren. Die Teams waren in zwei Dreiergruppen aufgeteilt: eine Westgruppe mit Argentinien, Chile und Kolumbien sowie eine Ostgruppe mit Brasilien, Paraguay und Uruguay. Die Mannschaften spielten nur innerhalb ihrer eigenen Gruppe, ihre Ergebnisse zählten jedoch für eine Gesamttabelle. Zum ersten Mal überhaupt errang Brasilien den Titel des Südamerikameisters. Im selben Jahr fand der Wettbewerb der Division B statt, der drei weitere Nationalteams aus Costa Rica Guatemala und Peru umfasste. Am Turnier der Division C beteiligten sich die Nationalmannschaften von El Salvador, Honduras und Panama. (de)

Jugaron 6 selecciones acomodadas en 2 series y cada participante enfrentó sólo a los equipos de la otra serie, además se confeccionó una tabla general para determinar al campeón. (es)
- Il campionato sudamericano di rugby 2018 (in spagnolo Sudamericano de Rugby 2018; in portoghese Campeonato Sul-Americano de Rugby de 2018) fu il 40º campionato continentale del Sudamerica di rugby a 15.Rispetto a tutte le altre edizioni in precedenza svoltesi, il Sudamericano "A" si tenne in due gironi da tre squadre (da cui anche il nome di Sei nazioni sudamericano), ciascuna delle quali affrontò le tre dell'altro girone.La classifica fu stilata collettivamente e, per la prima volta, la vittoria fu appannaggio del Brasile. I Tupis si aggiudicarono il trofeo battendo, nell'incontro diretto, l'Argentina XV a Buenos Aires: mai, in precedenza, una formazione nazionale brasiliana aveva sconfitto la squadra biancoceleste, la quale in assoluto non aveva mai perso un incontro nelle 39 precedenti edizioni di torneo. Il Sudamericano "B" si tenne ad Antigua, in Guatemala.Il Venezuela fu escluso dal torneo a causa della mancanza di visti per entrare nel Paese.Il torneo, ridotto a tre squadre, fu vinto dal Perù.Il Sudamericano "C", invece, si svolse a Tegucigalpa, capitale dell'Honduras, e fu vinto da Panama. A partir deste campeonato, o mesmo passou a ser conhecido como Torneio Seis Nações, sendo isto resultado da mudança promovida pela SAR (Sudamérica Rugby) em setembro de 2017. O Brasil conquistou esta competição com uma campanha perfeita. Os uruguaios haviam obtido o primeiro lugar nas duas edições anteriores. (pt)
