- The 2018 English Open (known for sponsorship reasons as the 2018 BetVictor English Open) was a professional ranking snooker tournament, that took place from 15 to 21 October 2018 in Crawley, West Sussex, England. It was the sixth ranking event of the 2018/2019 season and a part of the Home Nations Series. The defending champion was Ronnie O'Sullivan, who defeated Kyren Wilson in the 2017 event. However, O'Sullivan would lose to Mark Davis 1–6 in the semi-final. O'Sullivan was highly critical of the venue stating "The worst part was not the smell of urine..."This is about as bad as I've ever seen. It's a bit of a hellhole....I don't know what this gaff is, but I've just done an interview and all I can smell is urine." Thepchaiya Un-Nooh made the second maximum break of his career with a 147 in the opening frame of his 4–1 first round win against Soheil Vahedi. On the following day Ronnie O'Sullivan made the 15th maximum break of his career with a 147 in the final frame of a second round whitewash of Allan Taylor. This was the fourth time that two maximums were made at the main stage of a ranking tournament, and the third time in just over half a year. Stuart Bingham won his fifth professional ranking title with a 9–7 victory against Mark Davis, who had reached his first ever ranking final at the age of 46, playing in his 28th season on the professional tour. - Die BetVictor English Open 2018 waren ein Weltranglistenturnier im Rahmen der Snooker-Saison 2018/19 und wurden vom 15. bis 21. Oktober 2018 im K2 in Crawley in England ausgetragen. Es war der dritte Austragungsort bei der dritten Ausgabe des Turniers. Die English Open waren der Auftakt zur Home-Nations-Serie mit vier Turnieren in den vier Landesteilen Großbritanniens. Titelverteidiger war Ronnie O’Sullivan, der allerdings im Halbfinale mit 1:6 gegen Mark Davis verlor. Im Finale stand Mark Davis Stuart Bingham gegenüber. Letzterer konnte das Finale mit 9:7 für sich entscheiden und sicherte sich damit seinen fünften Titel in einem Weltranglistenturnier. Dem Thailänder Thepchaiya Un-Nooh gelang in seinem Erstrundenmatch gegen den Iraner Soheil Vahedi das 142. Maximum Break im Profisnooker. Es war das dritte der Saison und Un-Noohs zweites. Elle est organisée par la WPBSA et parrainée par la société anglaise . Elle constitue la première épreuve des Home Nations Series. L'événement compte 128 participants dans le tableau final. Le vainqueur remporte une prime de 70 000 £. Le tenant du titre est Ronnie O'Sullivan, il s'était imposé contre Kyren Wilson en finale. Cette année, c'est Stuart Bingham qui s'est imposé. En finale, il affrontait Mark Davis qui disputait sa première finale sur un tournoi de ce rang après 27 années de carrière. Le score fut de 9-7. Deux 147 ont été réalisés pendant le tournoi.
