- Στον Άγιο Μαρίνο διεξήχθησαν πρόωρες γενικές εκλογές στις 9 Νοεμβρίου 2008. Οι εκλογές προκηρύχθηκαν μετά την κατάρρευση της κεντροαριστερής κυβέρνησης, που είχε κερδίσει τις προηγούμενες εκλογές, το 2006. Τον Ιούνιο του 2008, εξαιτίας διαφωνιών στους κόλπους των εταίρων του κυβερνητικού συνασπισμού- που συναποτελούσαν το Κόμμα των Σοσιαλιστών και Δημοκρατών (PSD), η Λαϊκή Συμμαχία (AP) και η Ενωμένη Αριστερά (SU- αποχώρησε από το συνασπισμό το κόμμα της Λαϊκής Συμμαχίας, με αποτέλεσμα την πτώση της κυβέρνησης. Το PSD αποπειράθηκε να σχηματίσει κυβέρνηση συνασπισμού με ισχνή πλειοψηφία με τη SU και το κόμμα Σανμαρινέζοι για την Ελευθερία (SpL), όμως 2 διαφωνούντα κόμματα του PSD έφυγαν από το κόμμα αυτό και σχημάτισαν το Arengo και Ελευθερία (AL), με αποτέλεσμα ο συνασπισμός να χάσει την πλειοψηφία του στο Κοινοβούλιο. Ο νέος εκλογικός νόμος που εγκρίθηκε νωρίτερα το 2008 εισήγαγε αρκετές αλλαγές, όπως το απαιτούμενο ποσοστό του 3,5% για την είσοδο στη Βουλή και μία πριμοδότηση για τον συνασπισμό που θα κέρδιζε τις εκλογές, αντίστοιχα με το εκλογικό σύστημα των ιταλικών πόλεων. Στις εκλογές αναμετρήθηκαν δύο μεγάλοι συνασπισμοί: το Σύμφωνο για τον Άγιο Μαρίνο (κεντροδεξιός) και οι Μεταρρυθμίσεις και Ελευθερία (κεντροαριστερός). (el)

- Snap general elections were held in San Marino on 9 November 2008. They were called after the collapse of the centre-left government which had won the previous 2006 elections. In June 2008, due to disagreements within the coalition partners, the Party of Socialists and Democrats (PSD), Popular Alliance (AP) and United Left (SU), AP left the coalition and the cabinet fell down. The PSD tried to form a narrow-majority coalition with SU and Sammarineses for Freedom (SpL), but two dissenting members of PSD left their party and formed Arengo and Freedom (AL), leaving the proposed coalition without a majority in Parliament. Due to the new electoral law passed earlier in 2008 which introduced a number of changes (an electoral threshold of 3.5% and a majority premium for the winning coalition, on the example of the electoral system for the Italian cities), the election was contested by two major coalitions: Pact for San Marino (centre-right) and Reforms and Freedom (centre-left).
