- The 2003 United Nations Climate Change Conference took place between 1–12 December 2003 in Milan, Italy. The conference included the 9th Conference of the Parties (COP9) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The parties agreed to use the Adaptation Fund established at COP7 in 2001 primarily in supporting developing countries better adapt to climate change. The fund would also be used for capacity-building through technology transfer. At the conference, the parties also agreed to review the first national reports submitted by 110 non-Annex I countries.

Vertreter aus mehr als 180 Ländern waren anwesend, um abermals über das Kyoto-Protokoll von 1997 zu verhandeln. Präsident der Konferenz war der ungarische Umweltminister Miklos Persanyi. (de)
- La Conferenza delle Parti delle Nazioni Unite sui Cambiamenti Climatici 2003 si è svolta a Milano in Italia tra il 1º dicembre e il 12 dicembre 2003. La conferenza comprendeva la nona Conferenza delle Parti (COP9) alla Convenzione quadro delle Nazioni Unite sui cambiamenti climatici (UNFCCC). Le parti hanno concordato di utilizzare il Fondo di adattamento stabilito al COP7 nel 2001, soprattutto per sostenere i paesi in via di sviluppo per meglio adattarsi ai cambiamenti climatici. Il fondo sarebbe utilizzato anche per la costruzione di capacità attraverso il trasferimento di tecnologia.
