- زلزال مدينة ذمار الذي وقع في شمال اليمن بالقرب من مدينة ذمار (جزء من اليمن حالياً) بتاريخ في 13 ديسمبر 1982 وكانت قوته 6.0 درجة، كان زلزال مسجل الأول في منطقة ذمار. قتل في هذا الزلزال نحو 2800 شخص وأصيب 1,500 بجروح. حدثت هذه الهزة على بعد مئات من الكيلو مترات من طبقة ارضية جيولوجية معقدة تتضمن براكين نشطة بالإضافة ونتوءات جبلية في قاع البحر. اليمن لديها سجل حافل بالزلازل المدمرة، رغم ذلك يعتبر هذا أول زلزال يتم الكشف عنه عن طريق شبكة رصد الزلازل العالمية. - The 1982 North Yemen earthquake hit near the city of Dhamar, North Yemen (now part of Yemen) on December 13. Measuring 6.2 on the moment magnitude scale, with a maximum perceived intensity of VIII (Severe) on the Mercalli intensity scale, as many as 2,800 people were killed and another 1,500 injured. The shock occurred within several hundred kilometers of a plate boundary in a geologically complex region that includes active volcanoes and seafloor spreading ridges. Yemen has a history of destructive earthquakes, though this was the first instrumentally recorded event to be detected on global seismograph networks. (en)
- El terremoto de Dhamar de 1982 ocurrió el 13 de diciembre de 1982 en la región de Dhamar, en Yemen del Norte (actual Yemen) y tuvo ua magnitud de 6,0 grados en la escala de Richter. Al menos 3.000 personas perdieron la vida y otras 10 000 resulltaron lesionadas. Hubo pérdidas por unos US$2.000.000.000.000 y el panorama fue peor a los vistos en el terremoto más fuerte del mundo en 1960. El 100% de las construcciones de Dhamar fueron destruidas y fue uno de los terremotos más costosos de la historia.
