- The 1965-66 Libyan Premier League was the third edition of the competition established by the Libyan Football Federation three years earlier. Using the system in the previous two seasons, the three winners of the regional or Provincial leagues were selected to represent their region at national level. The three sides that competed in this season's competition were:
* Ittihad (as Western Province winners; qualified by defeating Ahly Tripoli 3–2 in a play-off)
* (as Southern Province winners)
* Darnes Darnah (as Eastern Province winners) These three sides played each other home and away to decide the national champion. Two points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. (en)
- La saison 1965-1966 du Championnat de Libye de football est la troisième édition du championnat de première division libyen. La compétition est en fait une phase finale qui réunit les trois clubs vainqueurs des championnats régionaux (Est, Ouest et Sud). Les clubs affrontent deux fois leurs adversaires, à domicile et à l'extérieur. C'est le club d'Al Ittihad Tripoli, tenant du trophée et vainqueur du championnat régional Ouest, qui remporte le titre, après avoir battu lors du match de barrage . C'est le second titre de champion de Libye de l'histoire du club. Al Ittihad devient par la même occasion le premier club libyen à prendre part à la Coupe des clubs champions africains. (fr)
