- شغب مادبا والتي يشار إليها أحيانًا باسم مجزرة مادبا هي أعمال شغب حصلت ضد السكان المسيحيين في بلدة مادبا الأردنية عام 1955، أدت هذه الأحداث إلى مقتل عدد من المسيحيين من قبل مثيري الشغب الإسلاميين. يبدو أن أعمال الشغب قد بدأت في نزاع بين سائقي سيارات الأجرة أحداهما مسيحي والآخر مسلم، وبعد ذلك تم الهجوم على دير في السلط من قِبل أعضاء حزب التحرير، مما أدى في نهاية المطاف إلى أعمال شغب طائفية. كثيرًا ما يشار أن المحرّض الرئيسي لأعمال الشغب الطائفية كان كل من الإخوان المسلمون وحزب التحرير. ويشار أيضًا أن عضو البرلمان الأردني محمد سالم أبو الغنم كان وراء اندلاع أعمال الشغب. أخذت أعمال الشغب شعارات مناهضة للأسرة الهاشمية في العام نفسه من ديسمبر، واستمرت لمدة خمسة أيام. كانت أعمال الشغب المناضة للأسرة المالكة نتيجة لمحاولة ضم الأردن في حلف بغداد. وكانت أعمال الشغب شديدة حيث هوجمت القنصليات الأجنبية وقتل العديد من الأشخاص. تم اخماد أعمال الشغب بتدخل عسكري من الجيش العربي وفرض حظر التجول، ونتيجة لأعمال الشغب، سقطت اكومة المجالي وأسقطت محاولة ضم الأردن إلى حلف بغداد. - The 1955 Madaba riot, sometimes also referred as the Madaba massacre took place in the predominantly Christians Jordanian town of Madaba, when a number of Christians were killed by Islamist rioters. The riot seems to have begun in a dispute between Christian and Muslim taxi drivers, after which the Salt monastery was attacked by members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir, eventually transforming in into an all-out sectarian riot. It is claimed that the event was instigated by the Muslim Brotherhood and Hizb ut-Tahrir. It was also claimed that a Jordanian Parliament Member, , was behind the eruption of the riot. took place the same year in December, lasting for five days. Those came as a result of an attempt to bring Jordan into the Baghdad Pact. The riots were severe – foreign consulates were attacked and many people were killed and wounded throughout the country. The riots were quelled only with the military intervention of the Arab Legion and imposition of a curfew. As a result of the riots, the Majali government fell and the introduction of Jordan into the pact was cancelled. (en)
