- General elections were held in East Germany on 15 October 1950. They were the first held since the founding of the country on 7 October 1949. There were 466 deputies in the Volkskammer, including 66 from East Berlin who were not directly elected. This election set the tone for all elections held in East Germany until the Peaceful Revolution. Voters were presented with a single list from the National Front of Democratic Germany, which in turn was controlled by the Socialist Unity Party. Only one candidate appeared on the ballot; voters simply took the ballot paper and dropped it into the ballot box. Those who wanted to vote against the candidate had to go to a special booth, without any secrecy. Seats were apportioned based on a set quota, not actual vote totals. By ensuring that its candidates dominated the list, the SED effectively predetermined the composition of the Volkskammer. According to official figures, the National Front list received the approval of 99.6% of voters, with turnout reported to be 98.5%. (en)
- Die Wahl zur Volkskammer der DDR 1950 (auch Volkswahl) war die Wahl zur 1. Volkskammer der DDR und fand am 15. Oktober 1950 statt. Sie war eine Scheinwahl. Es konnte lediglich über die Einheitsliste der Nationalen Front abgestimmt werden. Die Wahl hatte auf die Stärke der Fraktionen keinen Einfluss. Deren Größe wurde im Voraus festgelegt. Das Wahlrecht der DDR erlaubte auf dem Papier die öffentliche Kontrolle der Wahlauszählung. In der Praxis fand dies aus Angst vor Repressionen nicht statt. Aufgrund des Viermächte-Status der Stadt Berlin wurden die 66 Abgeordneten von Ost-Berlin indirekt durch den Magistrat von Ost-Berlin bestimmt. Hierdurch kam es zu der Situation, dass in der Volkskammer auch sechs Vertreter der SPD aus dem Ostteil der Stadt vertreten waren. Die SPD war in der SBZ nach der Zwangsvereinigung verboten; in Berlin bestand die SPD Berlin jedoch weiter. Die sechs Mandatsinhaber wurden Mitglieder der SED-treuen Sozialdemokratischen Aktion. (de)
- Las Elecciones generales de Alemania oriental de 1950 se celebraron el 19 de octubre de 1950, siendo los primeros comicios parlamentarios oficiales desde la fundación del país el 7 de octubre de 1949; se eligieron 466 diputados a la Volkskammer (incluyendo 66 de Berlín Oriental que no fueron elegidos de forma directa) en total. A los votantes se les presentó una lista única del Frente Nacional de Alemania Democrática, que a su vez era controlada por el comunista Partido Socialista Unificado de Alemania. Como sería el caso en todas las elecciones en Alemania del Este, un solo candidato apareció en la boleta electoral. Los votantes simplemente tomaron la papeleta de votación y la dejaron caer en la urna. Los que querían votar en contra del candidato tenían que ir a una cabina especial, sin ningún secreto. - De Volkskammerverkiezingen van 1950 vonden op 19 oktober 1950 in de Duitse Democratische Republiek plaats. Het waren de eerste landelijke verkiezingen in DDR die een jaar eerder was opgericht. In aanloop naar de verkiezingen werd door het door de communistische Socialistische Eenheidspartij van Duitsland (Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands, SED) gedomineerde Nationaal Front een kieslijst opgesteld bestaande uit antifascistische en "democratische" kandidaten die behoorden tot een van de goedgekeurde partijen of massaorganisaties. De kiesgerechtigden konden dan bij de aanstaande verkiezingen de kieslijst goed- of afkeuren. Op 19 oktober 1950 brachten 99,72% van de stemgerechtigde inwoners van de DDR hun stem uit. Volgens de officiële telling bracht 99,7% van de kiezers zijn of haar stem uit op de van tevoren vastgestelde lijst met kandidaten van het door de communistische Socialistische Eenheidspartij van Duitsland (Sozialistische Eiheitspartei Deutschlands, SED) gedomineerde Nationaal Front (Nationale Front).
