- النيماتودا الخنجرية التابعة إلى Longidoridae تعتبر من المسببات المرضية المهمة على النبات. هذة النيماتودا تصيب طيف واسع من النباتات بدءاً من الشليك إلى محاصيل الأعلاف إلى أشجار الغابات خصوصاً في الولايات المتحدة لكنها ضعيفة الأهمية في أوروبا ومنطقة المتوسط. النوع Xiphinema pachtaicum مسجلة في قبرص وإيران. في مصر تعتبر النيماتودا الخجرية من العوامل المحددة لإنتاج الذرة حيث توجد أنواع Xiphinema elongatum و Xiphinema diversicaudatum و Xiphinema arenarium و Xiphinema americanum و Xiphinema index و Xiphinema incognitum و Xiphinema imitator و Xiphinema hygrophilum و Xiphinema ensiculiferum و Xiphinema semillimum و Xiphinema santos و Xiphinema lamberti و Xiphinema ismailiensis. في السودان وجدت نيماتودا الخنجرية Xiphinema semillimum و Xiphinema basri منتشرة في منطقة الجزيرة. في تونس وجدت النيماتودا الخنجرية Xiphinema pachtaicum وفي ليبيا Xiphinema italiae على الحمضيات والزيتون واللوزيات. في سوريا وجدت النيماتودا الخنجرية نوع Xiphinema index على التين و Xiphinema italiae و Xiphinema pachtaicum على عدة نباتات اقتصادية ووجدت النيماتودا الخنجرية في لبنان أيضاً. في محافظة ظفار في سلطنة عمان تم تسجيل Xiphinema guirani. في المملكة العربية السعودية وجدت Xiphinema americanum على اللوز وبعض المحاصيل الحقلية و Xiphinema index على التين والنخيل والرمان. في الأردن وجدت عدة أنواع من النيماتودا الخنجرية هي Xiphinema index و Xiphinema ingens و Xiphinema pachtaicum و Xiphinema semillimum و Xiphinema neovuittenezi على عدة محاصيل خضر وحقلية ونباتات زينة. في العراق وجدت النيماتودا الخنجرية Xiphinema index على العنب. إن أهمية هذة النيماتودا تتعاضم كونها ناقل حيوي لفيروسات مجموعة على عدد من المحاصيل المهمة حيث تنقل فايروس التبقع الحلقي على الطماطم والتبغ والفايروس المجلجل على التبغ وفايروس بثور أوراق الكرز بواسطة الأنواع Xiphinema americanum sensu stricto و Xiphinema bricolense و Xiphinema colifornicum و Xiphinema rivesi وفايروس موزائيك التورد على الخوخ بواسطة Xiphinema americanum sensu strict وتنقل هذة النيماتودا فايروس الورقة المرويحة على العنب. - Xiphinema es un género de nemátodos, de la familia en el orden Dorylaimida. Son ectoparásitos de plantas que están presentes en el suelo. Presentan un estilete en su parte anterior con el que perforan el tejido de la raíz de la planta para alimentarse, por ello se les conoce como nematodos daga. Son de pequeño tamaño por lo que no pueden verse a simple vista si están mezclados con el suelo, pero pueden verse al microscopio. Provocan daños directos e indirectos en plantas ornamentales y productoras de alimentos. Los daños directos son poco importantes y consisten en inflamaciones de las raicillas. Por el contrario, los daños indirectos son muy importantes ya que algunas especies son vectores transmisores de . - Xiphinema is a genus of ectoparasitic root nematodes commonly known as dagger nematodes. The genus is of economic importance on grape, strawberry, hops and a few other crops. Major species include X.americanum, X.diversicaudatum, X.index, X.italiae and X.pachtaicum. They can be easily recognized by their long bodies and stylets which are long enough to reach the vascular tissue of plants. Different members of the genus have been shown to induce moderate to large amounts of root damage through root penetration, which in some species results in the formation of galls. They are of agricultural concern because they are vectors of nepoviruses, transferring them during feeding. - Xiphinema is een geslacht van rondwormen (Nematoda). De wetenschappelijke naam ervan is voor het eerst geldig gepubliceerd in 1913 door . Cobb beschreef tevens de eerste soort Xiphinema americanum uit de Verenigde Staten, die aan de wortels van diverse planten (maïs, gras, citrusbomen) gevonden werd. Sommige Xiphinema-soorten hebben een Z-orgaan, dat is een duidelijke, sterk ontwikkelde differentiatie van de baarmoeder. Indien niet zo ontwikkeld of onduidelijk te onderscheiden dan wordt van een pseudo-Z-orgaan gesproken. Xiphinema is een groot geslacht met ongeveer 260 soorten.
