Kawann Shockley, alias Ohene (pronounced Ô-hen-e), is a hip-hop artist and keyboard based producer, who splits his time between Philadelphia and Ghana. He is one of the few rappers classically trained in piano. At the age of twelve he began playing piano, memorizing the chords of Bach, Mozart and Handel under the director of his uncle, a classical pianist, in Ghana. At the age of 15 he left the amateur ranks and began performing in public.

Ohene's first release, The Rapademics (2006), was a scientific and mathematical approach to hip-hop, studied in several universities, including University of Delaware, University of Pennsylvania, Temple University, and Virginia Tech. Inner City Soul (2006) was a spiritual and social approach to hip-hop. The two albums are two expressions of his pproach to hip-hop, and have received praise from musicians including Rita Marley, Kenny Gamble and Mtume. Since his second album, Ohene has produced his own work, handling 90% of his instrumentation and arrangement. Ohene's third studio album, Nina Simone by... , was released June 18, 2007. Ohene has toured both the US and Ghana. Ohene has been mentioned in Murder Dog Magazine, the Philadelphia Weekly. He has produced albums by Random, G. , and Phanatik of The Cross Movement.
