David I. August (born November 27, 1970) is a professor of computer science at Princeton University specializing in compilers and computer architecture. August is a strong advocate of alternatives to parallel programming to address the software impact of multi-core computing. In 2012, he testified as an expert witness in the Oracle America, Inc. v. Google, Inc. patent lawsuit on behalf of Google and stated that the Dalvik virtual machine used in Android did not infringe on Oracle's symbolic reference patent.
