General elections were held in Barbados on 4 December 1961. They were the first held after Barbados was granted full self-government earlier in the year. 24 MPs were elected across twelve two-member constituencies, using the block vote method.

Fueron las terceras elecciones realizadas desde la instauración del sufragio universal, así como las primeras desde la concesión del autogobierno interno pleno. El sistema electoral empleado fue el de escrutinio mayoritario plurinominal, con las once parroquias y la ciudad de Bridgetown ejerciendo como circunscripciones, las cuales eran representadas por dos escaños cada una, resultando elegidos los dos postulantes más votados por simple mayoría de votos. Это были первые выборы в колонии после предоставления Барбадосу полного самоуправления ранее в 1961 году.
