Le Carbonif\u00E8re suit le D\u00E9vonien et pr\u00E9c\u00E8de le Permien. Son nom provient des vastes couches de charbon qu\u2019il a laiss\u00E9es en Europe de l'Ouest. La Pang\u00E9e continue sa formation durant le Carbonif\u00E8re, la temp\u00E9rature moyenne, stable pendant la premi\u00E8re partie du Carbonif\u00E8re diminue par la suite. La partie sud du Gondwana est recouverte d\u2019un glacier continental, mais aux latitudes plus basses un environnement propice et riche en vie pr\u00E9domine."@fr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
