Nel 1968 la John Brown si fuse con altri cantieri del Clydeside formando la , che per\u00F2 fall\u00EC nel 1971, comportando la fine delle attivit\u00E0 di costruzione dell'azienda. Il ramo legato alla progettazione navale rimase in attivit\u00E0, venendo comprato dalla nel 1986.
