He was also the founder of a huge collection of objects and manuscripts on the history of Schleswig-Holstein, though his collection also included banned theological works. He also wrote and collected under the Latinised form of his name, Petrus Fridericus Arpius. Peter Friedrich Arpe (* 10. Mai 1682 in Kiel; † 4. November 1740 in Schwerin) auch Petrus Fridericus Arpius war Jurist und Verfasser zahlreicher juristischer und historischer Werke. Er gilt als Begründer umfangreicher Sammlungen und Handschriften zur Geschichte Schleswig-Holsteins aber auch "verbotener" theologischer Schriften.
