Johann Friedrich Peyer im Hof (18 June 1817, in Schaffhausen – 18 May 1900) was a Swiss politician member of the Swiss National Council during 1857–1875 (President 1859/1860).Alongside Alfred Escher, he is one of the main pioneers of rail transport in Switzerland. Peyer was significantly affected by the financial crisis that hit Nordostbahn in the early 1870s. At the same time, his speculative investments in Hungary met with failure, so that he was forced to retire from all offices in 1877. Friedrich Peyer im Hof (* 18. Juni 1817 in Schaffhausen; † 18. Mai 1900 in Zürich) war ein Schweizer Politiker und Industrieller. Von 1848 bis 1854 sowie von 1857 bis 1875 gehörte er dem Nationalrat an (1860 als Nationalratspräsident). Er förderte den Eisenbahnbau in der Region Schaffhausen und war 1853 Mitgründer der Waggonfabrik Neuhausen, der späteren Schweizerischen Industrie-Gesellschaft (SIG). Zwei Jahrzehnte lang gehörte er dem Direktorium der Schweizerischen Nordostbahn an (von 1872 bis 1877 als Präsident) und prägte so die Entwicklung des Schweizer Eisenbahnwesens entscheidend mit.
