Sir Louis Pierre Rene "Amédée" Maingard de la Ville-ès-Offrans, CBE (21 October 1918 - 1981) was born in Mauritius, then a British colony. During the Second World War, he served with distinction with the British clandestine organization, the Special Operations Executive, supporting the French resistance, and was awarded medals by the British and French governments. After the war he returned to Mauritius and became a successful businessman. Amédée Maingard (21 octobre 1918 - 1981) est un agent secret mauricien du Special Operations Executive en France pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Il est opérateur radio principal du réseau STATIONER de Maurice Southgate « Hector », entre avril 1943 et avril 1944, il envoya 248 messages radio, qui contribuèrent dans une large mesure aux succès du réseau ; puis comme chef du réseau SHIPWRIGHT entre mai et septembre 1944 dans la région du Poitou, il organisa 125 opérations aériennes et de nombreux sabotages. Après la guerre, comme homme d’affaires, il développa l’industrie touristique et hôtelière de Maurice.
