- The Real Milli Vanilli fue el nombre de un grupo musical de pop creado en 1991 que contenía algunos integrantes originales de Milli Vanilli: Brad Howell, John Davis, Charles Shaw, Jodi Rocco y Linda Rocco. Por decisión del productor Frank Farian se integraron al nuevo grupo Ray Horton y Gina Mohammed. El único disco del grupo fue originalmente concebido como el segundo álbum de Milli Vanilli, pero luego se divulgó que los integrantes originales Rob Pilatus y Fabrice Morvan no eran los verdaderos cantantes del exitoso primer álbum y que habían recurrido a la sincronía de labios durante las actuaciones en directo. - The Real Milli Vanilli was a pop music group that consisted of some of the original singers from Milli Vanilli, Brad Howell and John Davis, as well as new singers Gina Mohammed and Ray Horton and several "special guests," including Tammy T, Icy Bro and B-Sho'-Rockin'. The group's only album, The Moment of Truth, was originally meant to be Milli Vanilli's second album, but the news about Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan not having sung on the first album and lip synching during live performances broke before it could be released. Frank Farian then reformed the group under the name "The Real Milli Vanilli," changing the cover of the album to feature singers Howell, Icy Bro, Horton, Mohammed and Davis. The original proposed title of the album was Keep on Running, the title of the first single released from the album. The Moment of Truth was released only in Brazil, Europe, Asia and New Zealand and reached the top 20 in Germany. The Real Milli Vanilli also released three singles, one of which ("Keep on Running") made it to #4 in the German charts. Seven of the songs from The Moment of Truth were reworked and released under the name Try 'n' B on their self-titled debut album, with the addition of Tracy Ganser and Kevin Weatherspoon on vocals. The album contained three additional recordings: "Ding Dong," "Who Do You Love" and a cover of Dr. Hook's "Sexy Eyes." The group's "When I Die" achieved more exposure when German eurodance group No Mercy covered it for their 1996 debut album My Promise. The song was released as the third single from the album in November 1996 and reached #1 in Austria and the Netherlands. Davis died on 24 May 2021 from COVID-19. (en)
- De Real Milli Vanilli bestond uit Charles Shaw, Johnny Davis en Brad Howell. Zij zongen samen met Frank Farian alle liedjes voor Milli Vanilli in. De reden waarom Shaw, Davis en Howell niet zelf als Milli Vanilli door het leven gingen, was omdat hun manager Frank Farian hen niet te promoten vond. Charles Shaw vertelde, na het succes van het eerste album van Milli Vanilli, aan een verslaggever dat hij, Johnny Davis en Brad Howell de teksten op de plaat hadden ingezongen. Toch werd ook het tweede album van Milli Vanilli een succes en liep alles goed af voor Morvan en Pilatus, aangezien Shaw werd afbetaald met zwijggeld. Toen uiteindelijk toch uitkwam dat de heren van Milli Vanilli niet degenen waren die op de platen te horen waren, besloten Shaw, Davis en Howell het succes van Milli Vanilli voort te zetten, door niet alleen in te zingen, maar ook zelf on stage te gaan.Onder de naam The Real Milli Vanilli probeerden zij successen te behalen, maar tevergeefs. Fab en Rob hadden inderdaad minder zangtalent dan de eigenlijke zangers (en buitenlandse accenten), waardoor ze niet helemaal in het plaatje van de producer pasten, maar zingen bleken ze toch wel te kunnen. Op 27 mei 2021 werd bekend dat John Davis op 66-jarige leeftijd is overleden aan de gevolgen van COVID-19. (nl)
