- El Ministerio Público de Venezuela es un órgano perteneciente al Poder Ciudadano, tiene carácter autónomo e independiente. Está bajo la dirección del fiscal general de la República que es elegido por la Asamblea Nacional para un período de siete años. El artículo 285 de la Constitución de Venezuela establece que el Ministerio Público tiene como función:
* Contribuir al establecimiento de los criterios de la política criminal o persecución penal dentro del Estado, a la luz de los principios orientadores del derecho penal moderno.
* Ejercer en nombre del Estado la acción penal.
* Garantizar el respeto de los derechos y garantías constitucionales en los procesos judiciales
* Garantizar la celeridad y buena marcha de la administración de justicia, el juicio previo y el debido proceso.
* Garantizar los tratados, convenios y acuerdos internacionales suscritos por la República en materia penal.
* Llevar a cabo las acciones a que hubiere lugar para hacer efectiva la responsabilidad en que hubieren incurrido los funcionarios públicos.
* Ordenar y dirigir la investigación penal de la perpetración de los hechos punibles.
* Proteger a las víctimas y testigos de hechos punibles.
* Representar los intereses de la sociedad mediante el ejercicio de las facultades de dirección de la investigación de los hechos que revisten los caracteres de delito (es)
- Le ministère public du Venezuela (en espagnol : Ministerio público) est l'entité chargée de veiller au respect de la loi et d'entamer des actions en justice au nom de l'État et de la collectivité. Il est sous l'autorité du procureur général de la République (en espagnol : Fiscal General de la República), nommé par l'Assemblée nationale constituante. L'actuel procureur général de la République est Tarek William Saab depuis le 5 août 2017. It is under the direction of the Attorney General of the Republic who is elected by the National Assembly for a period of seven years. Article 285 of the Constitution of Venezuela states that the Attorney General has the following function:
* Contribute to the establishment of criteria of the criminal politics or criminal prosecution within the State, in light of the guiding principles of modern criminal law.
* Exercise criminal action on behalf of the State.
* Guarantee respect for constitutional rights and guarantees in judicial processes.
* Ensure the speed and smooth running of the administration of justice, the prior trial and due process.
* Guarantee the treaties, conventions and international agreements signed by the Republic in criminal matters.

* Protect victims and witnesses of punishable acts.
