- Eine Funkabhörstation (auch Funkabhörstelle, Horchposten oder Lauschstation; englisch Listening station, Radio intercept station oder Wireless intercept station, kurz W/T station für wireless telegraphy station) dient der militärischen Aufklärung, insbesondere der Fernmeldeaufklärung (auch bezeichnet als Signals Intelligence SIGINT), durch „Abfangen“ von Funksendungen. Im Gegensatz zum ursprünglichen Abhören eines (akustischen) Gesprächs dienen Funkabhörstationen dazu, die mithilfe der Funktechnik – also über Funkwellen – drahtlos übertragene Information abzuhören. Hierzu werden hochempfindliche Funkempfänger sowie geeignete Empfangsantennen (Bild) benutzt. (de)

Une station d’écoute peut aussi être destinée à intercepter des signaux radio et à la retransmettre. Par exemple, la station d’écoute pirate de Londres capte les signaux de la radio FM de Londres pour les retransmettre via internet à l’ensemble du monde. Les stations Y étaient des sites de collecte de renseignements du British Signals initialement établis pendant la Première Guerre mondiale et utilisés plus tard pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
