- The Helsinki Lighthouse (Finnish: Helsingin majakka; also commonly known as Helsingin kasuuni — Swedish: Helsingfors fyra; Helsingfors kassun) is a caisson-type lighthouse located in the Gulf of Finland, 22 kilometres (12 nmi) due south of West Harbour, Helsinki. Construction of the lighthouse began in the Suomenlinna shipyard in May 1958, and in August the same year the structure was towed to its current location and sank to rest on the seabed at a depth of 13 metres (43 ft). Further work was carried out the following year, and the lighthouse was officially commissioned in September 1959. Constructed of reinforced concrete, the maximum diameter at the bottom of the submerged base is 19 metres (62 ft), and that of the visible tower 6 metres (20 ft). The height of the visible part is 27.5 metres (90 ft), with the light at 25 metres (82 ft) above mean sea level. The tower has eight storeys, with the solar-powered 40W halogen light source on the top, and control and technical rooms as well as operator accommodation below. In 1984, a helipad was added on top of the tower. The lighthouse is automated, and operated from the control room on the Harmaja islet. There is a Finnish Meteorological Institute weather station located at the lighthouse. (en)

La construcción del faro comenzó en el astillero de Suomenlinna en mayo de 1958, y en agosto del mismo año la estructura fue remolcada a su ubicación actual y se dejó caer para descansar en el lecho marino a 13 metros de profundidad. Se llevaron a cabo más trabajos al año siguiente y fue inaugurado oficialmente en septiembre de 1959. La torre tiene ocho plantas, generadores solares de un total de 40W y salas técnicas y de control así como el alojamiento para el operador en la zona inferior. En 1984, se agregó un helipuerto en la parte superior de la torre. El faro está automatizado y es operado desde un centro de control en la isla de Harmaja. Hay una estación meteorológica del Instituto Meteorológico Finlandés en el faro. (es)

- Helsingfors kassun är en kassunfyr som ligger långt ute i Finska viken, 3 kilometer innanför Finlands territorialvattengräns och 24 kilometer söder om Helsingfors centrum, inom området Territorialhavet. Fyren började byggas i maj 1958 och i augusti samma år sänktes den ner på sin rätta position på 13 meters djup. Inför vintern försågs den med en tillfällig lysanordning, men blev påkörd två gånger under vintern. Andra gången skadades det skyldiga fartyget såpass allvarligt att det inte kunde fortsätta utan måste återvända till Helsingfors för reparation, och befälhavaren ställdes till svars för skadorna. Det visade sig att fartyget förde så hög däckslast av timmer att sikten från styrhytten skymdes. Gjutarbetet av tornets övervattendelar vidtogs följande sommar, och officiellt togs fyren i bruk i september 1959. Fyren fjärrstyrs manuellt från Gråhara. Fyren ersatte fyrskeppet Äransgrund som funnits där sedan 1892. Ursprungligen var lysvidden 19 NM men sänktes till 12 då fyren övergick till soldrivna batterier. Antennen till radiofyren fick 1984 ge vika för en helikopterplatta. (sv)
