- Globisporangium sylvaticum (syn. Pythium sylvaticum) ist ein Pflanzen-Pathogen aus der Gruppe der Eipilze, das an einer Vielzahl von Pflanzenarten Keimlings- und Wurzelfäule hervorruft. Zu den befallenen Arten gehören Äpfel, Karotten, Lorbeerkirsche, Gartenkresse, Gurken, Knoblauch, Salat, Erbsen, Rhododendron und Spinat. Symptome für eine Infektion sind u. a. Verzwergung, Welken, Chlorosen und Verbraunung sowie schließlich ein Absterben der Wurzeln. Das Pathogen kann durch den Nachweis von dicken, mikroskopisch kleinen, runden Sporen innerhalb der Wurzelzellen identifiziert werden. Die Art wurde früher in die Gattung Pythium eingegliedert, doch diese wurde aufgrund der Morphologie der Sporangien in fünf getrennte Kladen aufgespalten. (de)

These species include apples, carrot, cherry laurel, cress, cucumber, garlic, lettuce, pea, rhododendron, and spinach. Symptoms of infection include stunting, wilt, chlorosis, and browning and eventual necrosis of roots. The pathogen can by identified by the presence of thick, microscopic, round spores within the cells of the root. The species was formerly placed in the genus Pythium, but that genus has been divided into five distinct clades, each characterized by the morphology of the sporangium. (en)
