- Eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven – The Catholic Church and Sexuality (original German title; Eunuchen für das Himmelreich – Katholische Kirche und Sexualität) is a philosophical book by the German theologian Uta Ranke-Heinemann, first published in 1988 and translated in 1990. The book is about how sexual morality is governed by celibates in the Catholic Church, which she criticizes as misogynous. While this represents a late 20th Century view, and remains broadly relevant, however in some areas material has dated, because early in the 21st century Pope Francis began to address some of the issues criticized in this work. The book's title comes from the Bible verse in Matthew 19:12, which could be translated as follows: 'For so: some are incapable of marriage from birth, some have been converted into it by men and some have made themselves as such for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.' El libro trata sobre la moral sexual en la historia de la Iglesia católica, que critica de forma importante. El título del libro proviene del verso de la Biblia en Mateo 19.12, que se podría traducir de la siguiente manera: «Pues es así: algunos son incapaces para el matrimonio desde el nacimiento, algunos han sido convertidos en ello por hombres y algunos se han hecho a sí mismos como tales - por la voluntad del reino de los cielos». El título completo es Eunucos por el reino de los cielos. Iglesia católica y sexualidad (en alemán, Eunuchen für das Himmelreich – Katholische Kirche und Sexualität), editado por primera vez en el original en alemán por Hoffmann und Campe (1988) y en versión de bolsillo ampliada por Heyne (2003; ISBN 978-3-453-16505-2), habiéndose publicado ya 25 ediciones. - Des eunuques pour le royaume des cieux (Eunuchen für das Himmelreich, 1989), est l'un des principaux ouvrages de la théologienne allemande Uta Ranke-Heinemann et sans doute celui qui lui a valu le plus grand rayonnement international. Traduit en français par Monique Thiollet et publié par les éditions Robert Laffont en 1990, ce livre, dont le titre fait référence à une parole du Christ dans le Nouveau Testament (Mt 19:12), évoque de manière critique et documentée les questions de sexualité et de dans la théologie et l'histoire de l'Église catholique, particulièrement dans ses relations avec la sexualité féminine. Fille de Gustav Heinemann, ancien président de la République d'Allemagne, Uta Ranke-Heinemann a été la première femme au monde à obtenir une chaire d'enseignement supérieur de théologie catholique.
