- Doliche (Greek: Δολίχη) was an ancient Greek city and polis (city-state) in Perrhaebia in Thessaly, situated at the foot of Mount Olympus. Doliche, with the two neighbouring towns of Azorus and Pythion (Pythium), formed a Tripolis. During the Roman–Seleucid War, the Tripolis was ravaged by an army of the Aetolian League in the year 191 BCE. During the Third Macedonian War the three towns surrendered to the army of Perseus of Macedon in the year 171 BCE, but that same year the Romans reconquered the three. In the year 169 BCE troops arrived from the Roman consul Quintus Marcius Philippus who camped between Azorus and Doliche. The three cities minted a common coin with the inscription "ΤΡΙΠΟΛΙΤΑΝ". The site is occupied by the modern town of Dolichi; when William Martin Leake visited the site in the 19th century, he found two fragments of Doric columns 2 feet 8 inches (81 cm) in diameter in a ruined church, and a sepulchral stone in the burying-ground, together with some squared blocks. Se encontraba en el distrito de Perrebia, en las proximidades de Pition y Azorio, de tal manera que las tres ciudades formaban un conjunto político que era llamado Trípolis. Durante la Guerra romano-siria, fueron asoladas por un ejército de etolios al mando de Menipo en el año 191 a. C. Es citada en el marco de la tercera guerra macedónica: las tres ciudades se rindieron ante el ejército de Perseo de Macedonia en el año 171 a. C. pero ese mismo año fueron reconquistadas por los romanos. En el año 169 a. C. llegaron a la zona tropas del cónsul romano Quinto Marcio Filipo que acamparon entre Azorio y Dólice. Elle forme la communauté de Tripolis, c'est-à-dire en français : trois polis/cités, avec les localités voisines de Pýthion et d'Azoros. Pendant la guerre antiochique, Tripoli est ravagée par une armée de la ligue étolienne, en l'an 191 avant notre ère. Pendant la troisième guerre macédonienne, les trois villes se rendent à l'armée de Persée de Macédoine, en l'an 171 avant notre ère, mais la même année, les Romains les reconquièrent. En l'an 169 avant notre ère, des troupes du consul romain Quintus Marcius Philippus campent entre Azoros et Doliche. Les trois cités frappent une pièce commune avec l'inscription « ΤΡΙΠΟΛΙΤΑΝ ». Plusieurs sites ont été identifiés avec celui de Doliché. Depuis la fin du XXe siècle on considère que le site des époques classique et hellénistique se situe près de Sarantaporo, et celui des époques romaine et palochrétienne au lieu-dit Kastri à quelques km de l'actuel village de Dolíchi. Ce dernier portait avant son renommage en 1928 le nom de Douchlista (peut-être une déformation du nom antique). (fr)
