- Communication and Networking Riser (CNR) ist ein Begriff aus dem PC-Hardwarebereich. Ein CNR ist ein spezieller Steckplatz auf der Hauptplatine (engl. mainboard) eines Personal Computers, in den entsprechende Erweiterungskarten eingesteckt werden können. CNR ist ein Industriestandard, der von Intel entwickelt wurde, um Komponenten wie Modem, Netzwerk oder Chipzugriff auf einem Rechner einzurichten. Die Karten sind heute nicht mehr weit verbreitet, da für den Heimanwender die meisten Funktionen schon von Onboard-Chips (z. B. Ethernet-LAN) oder einem externen Modem bereitgestellt werden.

A motherboard manufacturer can choose to provide audio, networking, or modem functionality in any combination on a CNR card. CNR slots were once commonly found on Pentium III-class motherboards, but have since been phased out in favor of on-board or embedded components. (en)
- Una ranura de comunicaciones y redes o CNR (del inglés communication and networking riser) es una ranura de expansión en la placa base para dispositivos de comunicaciones como módems, tarjetas de red. Al igual que la ranura de expansión de audio y módem (AMR), también es utilizada para dispositivos de audio. Fue introducida en febrero de 2000 por Intel en sus placas para sus procesadores Pentium y se trataba de un diseño propietario por lo que no se extendió más allá de las placas que incluían los chipsets de Intel. Adolecía de los mismos problemas de recursos de los dispositivos diseñados para ranura AMR. Actualmente no se incluye en las placas madre.
