- El Llibre de les profecies és un manuscrit de l'obra de Cristòfor Colom que interpreta la grandiositat del descobriment d'Amèrica a la vista dels profetes de l'Antic Testament i d'altres escrits escatològics justificant una futura croada per a conquerir Jerusalem. El llibre fou escrit en castellà i llatí i actualment l'original es troba a la Biblioteca Colombina de la catedral de Sevilla. Colom posà el seu fill Ferran a copiar aquest llibre, per trametre'n còpies als reis catòlics, a diversos reis europeus i al papa. (ca)
- The Book of Prophecies (in Spanish, El Libro de las Profecías) is a compilation of apocalyptical religious revelations written by Christopher Columbus towards the end of his life, probably with the assistance of his friend, the Carthusian monk Gaspar Gorricio. It was written between September 1501 and March 1502, with additions until about 1505. This journal of sorts conveys the medieval notion that in order for the end of the world or the second coming of Jesus Christ to occur, certain events must first be enacted: 1.
* Christianity must be spread throughout the world. 2.
* The Garden of Eden must be found - It was the common belief in the Middle Ages that the biblical Garden of Eden must have been on the top of a crag or mountaintop so that it would not have been affected by the first destruction of the world by flood. Upon arriving in Venezuela in 1498, Columbus may have thought that the verdant crags of Venezuela bore the garden of the Old Testament of the Bible. 3.
* A Last Crusade must take back the Holy Land from the Muslims, and that when Christ comes, he will come back in the place he lived and died: Jerusalem. 4.
* A Last World Emperor must be chosen - Columbus had chosen, at least in his mind, that the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, would fulfill this position due to the vast imperial power and religious conviction the Spanish monarchs claimed. A last world emperor would be necessary to lead the aforementioned crusade against the Muslims and to greet Christ at Jerusalem once the previous steps had been completed. Such notions were not new to the period in which Columbus lived. Medieval monastic writers, such as Joachim of Fiore, had made similar claims, which strongly influenced Columbus' apocalyptic writings and beliefs. The manuscript was written by Columbus following his third voyage to the New World. The original manuscript is mostly in Spanish with some Latin. The manuscript was translated into English with commentary by Delno C. West and August Kling and published by the University of Florida Press, Gainesville, in 1991. (en)

Colón comenzó el texto mientras se encontraba a la espera de realizar su cuarto viaje a América y lo terminó tras finalizar el mismo. Para su realización contó con la colaboración de fray , monje cartujo del Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas de Sevilla. El manuscrito original se conserva en la Biblioteca Capitular y Colombina de la Catedral de Sevilla. (es)
- Le Libro de profecías ou Livre des prophéties est un manuscrit rédigé par Christophe Colomb entre 1501 et 1502, avec des ajouts occasionnels par diverses mains jusqu'en 1505. Rédigé sur papier filigrané fabriqué en Italie, il compte 84 feuillets numérotés, dont 14 feuillets sont manquants. Par ce manuscrit, Colomb vise à étayer la thèse selon laquelle il était prédestiné pour réaliser la découverte des Indes — dont il montre qu'elle était prévue dans la Bible — afin que l'Espagne puisse évangéliser les populations indigènes et que la monarchie espagnole acquière une source d'or qui lui permettra de financer la reprise de Jérusalem par la chrétienté. Colomb en a commencé la rédaction afin de regagner l'appui des rois catholiques en vue de son quatrième voyage vers le Nouveau Monde. Il a eu la collaboration du frère chartreux Gaspar de Gorricio, du Monasterio de Santa María de las Cuevas à Séville. El Libro de las Profecías) – kompilacja apokaliptycznych religijnych objawień napisana przez Krzysztofa Kolumba pod koniec jego życia, prawdopodobnie w obecności jego przyjaciela Gaspara Gorricio, mnicha z zakonu Kartuzów. Książka została napisana między wrześniem 1501 a marcem 1502 i była dopełniana aż do 1505. Ten swego rodzaju dziennik przekazuje średniowieczy pogląd, że zanim Jezus Chrystus ponownie przyjdzie na ziemię, muszą nastąpić pewne zdarzenia: 1.
* Chrześcijaństwo musi być rozszerzone na cały świat. 2.
* Eden musi zostać odnaleziony. W średniowieczu powszechne było twierdzenie, że rajski ogród musiał znajdować się na szczycie wielkiego wzgórza, by nie został naruszony przez biblijny potop. Po przybyciu do Wenezueli w 1498 roku, Krzysztof Kolumb mógł pomyśleć, że na pokrytej zielenią skale znajduje się ogród ze Starego Testamentu z Biblii. 3.
* Musi nadejść ostatnia krucjata, która wyzwoli Ziemię Świętą z rąk Muzułmanów, by Chrystus mógł wrócić do miejsca, w którym się urodził i zmarł: Jerozolimy. 4.
* Musi zostać wybrany Ostatni Cesarz Świata – Kolumb wybrał Królów Katolickich, Ferdynanda i Izabelę, którzy byli według niego odpowiedni z powodu ich ogromnej władzy i przekonań religijnych. Ostatni cesarz świata musi koniecznie przeprowadzić wcześniej wspomnianą krucjatę przeciwko muzułmanom i powitać Chrystusa w Jerozolimie po poprzednich krokach. Przekonania te nie były odosobnione w czasach, w których żył Kolumb. Średniowieczni pisarze klasztorni, tacy jak Joachim z Fiore, mieli podobne poglądy, które mocno wpłynęły na apokaliptyczne pisma i wierzenia Kolumba. Manuskrypt został napisany przez Kolumba podczas trzeciej wyprawy do Nowego Świata. Oryginał zapisany jest głównie w języku hiszpańskim i po części w łacinie. Manuskrypt został przetłumaczony na język angielski z komentarzem przez Delno C. Westa i Augusta Kinga i opublikowany przez University of Florida Press w Gainesville w 1991 roku. (pl)
