- علي شلال القيسي كان سجيناً في سجن أبو غريب في بغداد، العراق، خلال السنوات الأولى من الحرب على العراق بقيادة الولايات المتحدة. أثناء اعتقاله في سجن أبو غريب تعرض علي شلال القيسي للتعذيب الجسدي والنفسي الشديد على أيدي أفراد من الجيش الأمريكي. كان علي مغطى الرأس واقفاً على صندوق والأسلاك كانت موزعة في المناطق الحساسة في انحاء جسده وأعضائه التناسلية تحت تهديد بالصعق الكهربائي إذا ما وقع من على الصندوق. ومع ذلك يزعم الجيش الأمريكي أن الأسلاك لم تكن موصولة بالكهرباء لكن فقط هي لإيهام السجين وتهديده بالصعق الفعلي بالكهرباء، ويتناقض كلام الجيش الأمريكي مع كلام علي في مقابلة بعد خروجه من السجن أنه بالفعل قد صعق بالكهرباء وكانت الصورة أبرز الصور التي تتناقلها وسائل الاعلام في فضيحة أبو غريب ، وأصبحت رمزاً لما فعله الجيش الأمريكي في سجن أبو غريب من تعذيب وسوء معاملة وانتهاكات لحقوق الإنسان. هي وغيرها من الصور والكاريكاتيرات والكتابات التي انتشرت حول هذه الفضيحة ولديه صورة بعد خروجه من سجن أبو غريب وهو صاحب أشهر صورة في التعذيب (ar)
- Ali Shallal al-Qaisi (Arabic: علي شلال القیسي) is an Iraqi who was captured in United States custody during CIA interrogation at Abu Ghraib Prison in 2003. His name became known in 2004 when the prisoner torture and abuse at Abu Ghraib made news. Al-Qaisi said: "I'm spending sleepless nights thinking about the agony I went through... I even have recurring nightmares that I'm in my cell at Abu Ghraib, cell 49 as they called it, being tortured at the hands of the people of a great nation that carries the torch of freedom and human rights." According to Al-Qaisi, the US military seized his football pitch for the purpose of dumping corpses and waste. He was arrested after attempting to contact foreign reporters about the incident. Al-Qaisi has had to undergo six surgeries from the torture he was subject to. His left hand is mutilated due to electrocution. (en)
