- 10e Pioneer Rallye Paris-Alger-Dakar je oficiální název desátého ročníku pouštního závodu Rallye Dakar, který se uskutečnil v roce 1988. Zúčastnilo se ho 311 motocyklů, 183 automobilů a 109 kamionů. Mezi automobilisty vyhrál Juha Kankkunen s vozem Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, mezi motocyklisty s motocyklem Honda a mezi kamiony Karel Loprais s automobilem Tatra 815 4x4. Soutěž byla poznamenána smrtí šesti lidí. (cs)
- 1988 Dakar Rally also known as the 1988 Paris–Dakar Rally was the 10th running of the Dakar Rally event. 311 cars, 183 motorcycles, and 109 trucks started the rally. The rally was won by Juha Kankkunen, the motorcycle category was won by Edi Orioli, and the truck category was won by Karel Loprais on a Tatra 815. The event was marred by the death of six people, three participants, a mother and child killed in Mauritania when a camera car ran into a group of spectators, and a 10-year-old girl killed crossing the road in Mali. In addition, the rally leader Ari Vatanen's Peugeot 405 was stolen in Bamako, and would only be returned if a ransom of 25 million francs CFA was paid. The car eventually found, but it was too late to rejoin the race. (en)

An der Rallye nahmen insgesamt 603 Teilnehmer – 311 PKW, 183 Motorräder und 109 LKW teil. Bei der Rallye kam es 1988 zu 6 Todesfällen: drei Teilnehmer, eine Mutter mit Kind, die in Mauretanien von einem Kamerafahrzeug erfasst wurden, das in eine Gruppe Zuschauer fuhr, sowie ein 10 Jahre altes Mädchen, das in Mali eine Straße überquerte. - Rajd Dakar 1988 (Rajd Paryż - Dakar 1988) - dziesiąta edycja pustynnego Rajdu Dakar, który odbył się na trasie Paryż - Algier - Dakar. Wystartowało 311 samochodów, 183 motocykli i 109 ciężarówek. W klasyfikacji samochodów tryumfował Juha Kankkunen, w klasyfikacji motocyklistów wygrał Edi Orioli, zaś wśród kierowców ciężarówek najlepszy okazał się . Impreza była przyćmiona śmiercią 6 osób: 3 uczestników rajdu, matki i dziecka, którzy zginęli pod kołami samochodu, który wjechał w grupę widzów w Mauretanii podczas jednego z etapów, oraz malijskiej dziewczynki, która zginęła podczas wypadku samochodowego na skrzyżowaniu w Mali. W rajdzie wzięły udział 4 polskie drużyny: dwie na samochodach Star 266 Rally Turbo i dwie na samochodach Jelcz S442. Załogi na samochodach Star dojechały do mety, jednak nie zmieściły się w limicie czasowym i nie zostały sklasyfikowane. Byli to pierwsi Polacy na mecie tego wyścigu i jedyne polskie pojazdy które dojechały na metę. Załogom Jelcza nie udało się ukończyć wyścigu. (pl)
