Panagiotis (Panagis) Kavvadias or Cawadias or Cavvadias (Greek: Παναγιώτης (Παναγής) Καββαδίας; 1848 - 20 July 1928) was a Greek archaeologist and a member of the Academy of Athens. He was born in 1848 in Kothreas in Kefalonia (Cephalonia). He studied philology at the Kapodistrian University of Athens and then went to Germany on a state scholarship where he continued his studies in the field of archeology at the University of Munich. He returned to Athens and entered the archaeological service in 1879 as Superintendent of Antiquities of the Cyclades and Euboea. In 1885 he became the General Superintendent of Antiquities. He founded several museums in the provinces and generally organized the archaeological society, of which he was also Secretary from 1894 to 1909 and again from 1911 to 192
