Makeen (Pashto: مکین) or Makin (ماکین) is a city in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, on the boundary with North Waziristan. The boundary with Afghanistan's Barmal District, Paktika lies 40 kilometres (25 mi) to the west. Makeen lies within the heartland of the Mahsud tribe of Pashtuns. Makin Subdivision has seven middle schools (including two for girls), and two high schools (none for girls).
