José Horacio Gómez Velasco (born December 26, 1951) is a Mexican-born American prelate of the Catholic Church. He became the fifth Archbishop of Los Angeles in 2011. He served as Auxiliary Bishop of Denver from 2001 to 2004 and as Archbishop of San Antonio from 2004 to 2010. Beginning on November 15, 2016, Gómez served as vice president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops; his term as vice president ended with his election as president on November 12, 2019. He is the first person of Hispanic descent to hold both positions.
