The Czech Republic debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "Malá dáma" written by Milan Špalek, Ota Váňa, Josef Vojtek, Radek Hurčík and Tomáš Krulich. The song was performed by the band Kabát. The Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) organised the national final Eurosong 2007 in order to select the Czech entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. Nine entries competed in the national final which took place on 10 March 2007 and "Malá dáma" performed by Kabát was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote.
