Broughton (Welsh: Brychdyn) is a large village in Flintshire, Wales, close to the Wales–England border, located to the west of the city of Chester, England, in the community of Broughton and Bretton. Along with the nearby village of Bretton, the total population was 5,791 at the 2001 Census, increasing to 5,974 at the 2011 Census. The ITV1 drama series Midsomer Murders has used Broughton as a filming location. Broughton is twinned with Auzeville-Tolosane (population 3,035), a commune in the suburbs of Toulouse, France.
