The 2001 FC Anzhi Makhachkala season was the 2nd season that the club played in the Russian Top Division, the highest tier of football in Russia, following their promotion from the National Football League in 1999. They finished the season in 13th, were runners-up in the cup and reached the Sixth Round of the cup losing to Dynamo Moscow, and were knocked out of the UEFA Cup at the First Round stage after a 0–1 defeat to Rangers over one leg in Warsaw, Poland.
