Dumfriesshire or the County of Dumfries (Siorrachd Dhùn Phris in Gaelic) is a historic county, registration county and lieutenancy area of southern Scotland. To the south is the coast of the Solway Firth, and the English county of Cumberland. Dumfries has three subdivisions: Annandale, Eskdale and Nithsdale.
